Description
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned:  Per saltire Sanguine and Argent, a cross couped Or voided Gules.

Symbolism
Maroon and white are the colors traditionally associated with the Army Medical Corps.  Gold conveys excellence, high ideals and achievement.  The red cross denotes medical care and compassion.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved effective 18 September 1993.

That for the regiments and separate battalions of the Army Reserve:  From a wreath Argent and Sanguine, the Lexington Minute Man Proper.  The statue of the Minute Man, Captain John Parker (H.H. Kitson, sculptor), stands on the Common in Lexington, Massachusetts.
